Triangle Transit Authority (TTA)
Was the resident vehicle engineer responsible for managing all aspects of the vehicle task hired by TTA to develop a commuter rail system to link the area’s major cities through an FRA-compliant diesel multiple unit (DMU) commuter rail system. Led developed terms and conditions and the technical specifications working with TTA and my team, led the contract evaluations and award of the vehicle contract. Oversaw the project and program schedule, reviewed implementation plans using Primavera and MS Projects.
Developed the system’s clearance envelope. Provided technical support for the civil work section designers, track and alignment designers, shop and yard designers, signal and communication systems’ designers, and station designers and formulated recommendations for several engineering studies including station platform and track clearances, vehicle performance simulations, noise and vibration mitigation, DMU power train arrangements, and diesel emissions and fuel consumption estimates. Led the development of the HVAC system for the passenger compartment and the separate dehumidification system for the operator cab and windshields.
